Advance Your Career in Thailand

Gaining employment in the Land of Smiles as a non-Thai national typically means assuming an English teaching position. While there are lucrative English teaching jobs in universities like Chulalongkorn or Thammasat, most English teaching jobs offer little pay.

As a matter of fact, don’t expect a high wage for any highly skilled job, teaching or otherwise. It doesn’t sound very promising, but actually if you aspire to live in the Land of Smiles for an extended period of time, such low salaries aren’t a worry because Thailand is a low- priced place to live, the infrastructure is arguably the best in this region of the world, it’s a safe country, yet you can crawl up the career ladder because you can get a great work experience in Thailand.

But there’s an obscured problem that slowly presents itself after some time: so you’ve been working in the Land of Smiles for a couple of years, and you’ve accumulated decent work experience, your pay isn’t great, but then again things are cheap in Thailand so no problem. BUT, here’s the rub : You haven’t had the opportunity to actually BANK money while living in Thailand. Airfares look incredibly over-priced compared to your pay in Thailand. The price of things in your home country begins to panic you when you compare your money earned in Thailand. This dilemma troubles many foreigners in Thailand a year or so after arriving there. Lasting future plans are often put on hold because you don’t have the savings to realise any ambition like buying a house, buying a car, or getting married.

Consequently, key point : when considering living in Thailand, also consider that you will find it incredibly difficult to save substantial quantities of hard currency when thinking about the costs of your home country.

However, it’s not all about money is it? You can have a great time in Thailand, perhaps learn the language, make new friends, travel around Thailand when you have time off work, and get some precious work experience.

So what kind of jobs can you obtain in the Land of Smiles? Browsing jobs-quality.com - a website listing job positions around the Chonburi and Bangkok areas of Thailand - they have listed HR jobs in Thailand, Admin work placements, sales executive job positions, safety officer job positions etc. Essentially the sort of work placements you’d find in your home country. While most of these jobs may be looking for a Thai national who speaks Thai, you will still find English-speaking requirements for jobs inside many multinational organizations based in Thailand.
