Skiing Deals Are to Be Found because of the Recession

With the sterling fetching only slightly more than a Euro at Travelex, one would think there would be a lot of fantastic ski deals to be found in alpine ski resorts this Christmas as snowboarders remain back home to combat the financial crisis. Initial numbers barely announced point to the fact that ski areas are 82 % full across the Christmas and New Year period. 11 percent up on the equivalent period of time in 2007.

You’ll probably have better luck in early 2009 that presently has a 37 39 % reservation rate. The signs of a downturn is across the significant Feb ski holiday month which has 67 percent reservations, 2 % lower than last ski season. Information centers in the ski areas of Risoul, Grand Massif, Tignes-les-Brevieres and Le Tour have observed strong demand in Nov advanced by the brilliant early season snow fall. Chamonix has better demand in comparison to last season, and Les Trois Vallees experienced an excellent New Year.

There is heavy interest in larger accommodation, 7 to 11 places, as people group-up to save money. Early evidence highlights that do it yourself skiing holidays are holding up, evidence perhaps that serious boarders will not fore-go their ski holiday. However inquiries from tour operators are down.
